Dear Harvard Club of Boston Leader,

We are thrilled to officially welcome you to the Magnetic Foundations Leadership Accelerator (MFLA)!

The MFLA is an unparalleled opportunity for the Board of Governors and Executive Staff (“Leadership”) to accelerate the Club’s transformation into a vibrant and connected community. A community that lives beyond the confines of 374 Commonwealth Avenue. A community that people trust and gravitate towards. A community that people can feel.

Essentially, the success of HCB’s strategic objectives around member retention and new member acquisition hinges on the Club’s ability to create a community that people can’t live without. And this process begins and ends with you, as well as the rest of the Club’s Leadership.

Designed to enhance your capacity to cultivate such a magnetic community, the MFLA will equip you and the Harvard Club of Boston’s Leadership with targeted leadership skills, individual action planning, and simulated, situational training. At its core, the MFLA will set the tone, increase alignment, and usher in a period of deep reflection, productive discourse, and bold action from the Club’s Board of Governors and Executive Staff alike.

In closing, we are excited to embark on this journey with you and the Harvard Club of Boston’s Board of Governors and Executive Staff!

We understand this program requires a significant investment of your time, energy, and mindspace. We pledge that we will do everything in our power to ensure you have a meaningful and impactful experience. Our goal is to increase your ability to live the Harvard Club of Boston’s Covenants and create a vibrant, connected, and welcoming community, in which everyone truly feels she, he, or they belong.

Yours in partnership,
Rebecca Wilson and Ty Moore

COVID-19 Measures
& Guidelines

Dear Harvard Club of Boston Leadership,

We are very much looking forward to seeing you in person at the upcoming Mini-Retreats, which kick off next Friday, September 10th!

As you know, the delta variant of COVID is highly-transmissible, and even vaccinated people can contract this particular variant of the virus, so it is still prudent to be vigilant when interacting with others in person. Given that, and based on the input that we have received from the vast majority of HCB’s Leadership, we have developed a set of measures and guidelines that we are recommending to both provide you with more comfort regarding attending in person and ensure our in-person functions are relatively safe for all to attend.

We certainly understand that everyone has different levels of risk tolerance when it comes to COVID. Nevertheless, as the facilitators of the MFLA, we feel a sense of obligation and responsibility to do what we can to increase your level of safety and comfort, as well as mitigate the potential spread of the virus on our watch.

Thank you for reading these measures and guidelines, and thank you for taking them seriously, in the spirit of advancing the community of the Harvard Club of Boston.

  • We ask that all participants either be vaccinated or show a negative COVID test in the 72 hours prior to our meetings. Please see Matt (BOG) or Steve (Staff) if you have any questions.

  • Please limit risky social exposures in the days leading up to the sessions (outside of any essential job / childcare obligations) and wear masks indoors (outside of your own home / private office).

  • We recommend that all participants get a PCR test or self-administer a rapid antigen test within 72 hours of the sessions. Of course, if anyone is positive, that person should excuse herself / himself / themselves from participating and quarantine appropriately.

  • IMPORTANT NOTE: The Harvard Club of Boston is providing its members and staff with the opportunity to receive PCR tests at its Back Bay Clubhouse on Tuesday, 9/7; Tuesday, 9/14; Tuesday, 9/21; and Tuesday, 9/28. If interested, PLEASE CLICK HERE to schedule your test.
  • If you have any COVID symptoms (e.g., fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, body aches, fatigue, loss of smell, diarrhea, congestion, runny nose, sore throat, persistent headache), please DO NOT attend that program session and get tested as soon as possible.

  • The program rooms will be set up for social distancing (8-foot tables, with just 2 people per table and chairs spaced at least 6 feet apart.  Additionally, there will be adequate distance between tables such that people are spaced 6 feet apart on all sides).

  • When possible, windows within the program rooms will be opened for increased ventilation.

  • All participants, facilitators, and event staff will be required to wear a mask when not eating or drinking.

  • Extra masks and hand sanitizer will be made available at the events.

  • We recommend that all participants practice healthy hand hygiene and use hand sanitizer.

  • We ask that all participants be respectful of others’ COVID comfort levels.  If a participant feels a fellow participant or facilitator is too close, that participant should simply say “social distance,” and both parties shall move to provide the appropriate amount of social distancing space between them.
  • Please get a PCR test after the final in-person September session (after September 21st), as well as after the Closing Celebration (after October 22nd).

  • If you receive a positive test result, please communicate with Steve Cummings to facilitate contact tracing and prompt communication with the other attendees.

Once you have reviewed the above COVID-19 Measures & Guidelines, please sign the below MFLA Participant Pledge.

Thank you for all that you do for the Harvard Club of Boston, and thank you for your commitment to ensuring the safety of all MFLA attendees.

With greatest thanks,
Rebecca and Ty
